Ashnil Mara Camp

You stay at Ashnil Mara Camp in one of fifty luxury tents set along the Mara River inside Maasai Mara National Reserve. The river draws wildlife year-round and is the stage for the wildebeest migration when the herds cross its waters. Tents have wooden decks overlooking the reserve, mosquito-netted beds, and private bathrooms with showers.

The camp runs game drives twice daily — mornings when the light is sharp and the air cool, afternoons when the heat eases and the animals stir. The Mara’s lions and leopards are regular sightings, and the river’s hippos grunt through the night.

Reaching the camp takes four to five hours by road from Nairobi, or forty-five minutes by scheduled flight. Meals are served in a restaurant with river views, and the bar looks out over the same water. The swimming pool offers a place to cool off between drives.

The Mara River is the reason the camp is here at all — it draws the game, shapes the landscape, and fills the tents with the sound of water moving over rock.
