Mara Serena Safari Lodge

You stay at Mara Serena Safari Lodge on a bush-covered hill in the Mara Triangle, the only lodge inside this part of the Maasai Mara. The seventy-four rooms are arranged in the circular design of a Maasai manyatta, with views over the savannah and the Mara River. Each room has a mosquito net, marble bathroom, and ceiling fan; some have private balconies facing the water.

Game drives go out twice daily — mornings cool, afternoons golden — with rangers tracking lion, leopard, and the wildebeest migration when it passes through. Breakfast is served by the hippo pool, where a Maasai warrior greets you at the riverbank. Three evenings a week, dinner comes with traditional Maasai dance.

The lodge runs entirely on solar power, with a chef's garden supplying the kitchen. The rock-enclosed swimming pool looks out over the plains, and the Maisha Spa offers massages with local botanicals. Twice a week, a Maasai market sets up at the lodge with crafts and souvenirs.

The Ololoolo Escarpment rises four hundred metres to the west, marking the edge of the Mara Triangle. From the lodge, you can see the fault line where the plateau begins.
