Tamarind Restaurant sits on a cliff above Mombasa's Old Harbour, a white building with high arches and a crenellated roof that dates to the 1970s. You come for seafood — prawns piri piri, chili crab, lobster — at tables that look out over the historic waterfront. The kitchen sources fish from the harbour below.

The dining room seats a hundred and sixty, with a private room for twenty-five. The lawn outside takes cocktail receptions, and the view stretches across the old town. The restaurant caters to groups and events, tailoring menus to the table.

The building is a short walk from the Golden Key Casino, which shares the same view over the harbour. The Tamarind jetty below runs lunch and dinner cruises on traditional Swahili dhows.
