Spier Hotel
A Stellenbosch wine farm hotel with Cape Dutch gardens and a spa
You stay at Spier Hotel on a 650-hectare wine farm in Stellenbosch, twenty minutes from Cape Town. The eighty rooms are arranged in a village-style layout among rewilded fynbos gardens, with interiors that reference Cape farmhouse traditions. Each room has views of the gardens or the Eerste River, which runs through the property.
The hotel has a spa rooted in Cape botanicals, including a Cape Herbal Bath House and a Mindful Movement Studio for yoga and breathwork. Dining is seasonal and South African, with ingredients sourced from the farm’s organic gardens and regenerative livestock pastures. The Garden Room serves breakfast exclusively to hotel guests, while Veld Restaurant offers a soil-to-plate menu that changes with the seasons.
Wine tastings are held in the Tasting Room overlooking the farm dam, with views of the Helderberg Mountains. The farm also has a contemporary art collection with over three thousand seven hundred pieces, which you can explore on guided tours or self-guided walks. Children can join the Buzz Club for nature-based activities, and the farm has a heated pool and nature play areas.
The Eerste River runs through the property, cooling the gardens and drawing wildlife. It is the reason the hotel is here at all.
