Tokara is a family-owned wine estate on Helshoogte Pass near Stellenbosch, named after the founders’ children Thomas and Kara. You come here for wine and olive oil tastings, with vineyards on Simonsberg Mountain and additional farms in Elgin and Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The estate also has a restaurant, delicatessen and art gallery showcasing work by local artists.

The entrance to the winery and restaurant includes an art gallery space featuring African creativity. The collection includes pieces by local artists and artisans, with works available to purchase. The restaurant serves meals with views across the vineyards, while the delicatessen offers local produce.

Tokara produces site-specific wines from its vineyards, reflecting the characteristics of the different growing areas. The olive groves yield oil that is pressed on the estate. The location on Helshoogte Pass provides views across to False Bay and Table Mountain.
