Midlands Saddle and Trout
A dog-friendly countryside resort on the Midlands Meander with trout fishing and horse riding
You stay at Midlands Saddle and Trout on open farmland near Mooi River, where fifty-eight self-catering chalets sit among rolling hills and stocked trout dams. The resort is dog-friendly, with a menu for pets and a shop selling leads and toys. Horse riding trails wind through the surrounding countryside, and the dams are open for fishing and canoeing.
The chalets have fireplaces and built-in braai patios, with configurations from one to four bedrooms. The La Vita Spa offers treatments from morning until late evening, and the restaurant serves comfort cuisine with local flavours. Activities include adventure golf, tennis, bowls, and a children's playground.
The resort is on the Midlands Meander, close to Howick Falls and the Nelson Mandela Capture Site. It is sixty kilometres from Pietermaritzburg and about two hours' drive from Durban. Dogs are welcome here, with open grounds for walking and farmland to explore.
