Pestana Kruger Lodge
A riverside lodge opposite Kruger's Malelane Gate, with two pools
You stay at Pestana Kruger Lodge on the Crocodile River, directly opposite the Malelane Gate into Kruger National Park. The lodge has seventy-four rooms with balconies facing either the river or the gardens, decorated with African motifs. From the terrace you can watch hippos in the river and sometimes see animals coming down to drink.
The lodge has two outdoor pools, one with a water slide, set in gardens that run down to the riverbank. The Buhlebethu restaurant serves contemporary South African food with views over the water, and the Eshonalanga Bar offers drinks in the same sightline. An open-air Boma serves traditional dinners around a fire.
A tour desk arranges game drives into Kruger, where the park's two thousand kilometres of roads follow six rivers through savanna. The Malelane Gate is less than a kilometre away, making this one of the quickest entries to the southern section of the park.
The lodge has a massage room offering treatments that begin with a Turkish bath, using products drawn from African plants. Two conference rooms handle meetings and events, with coffee breaks taken on the deck above the river.
Pestana Kruger Lodge is surrounded by indigenous gardens that blend into the bushveld, with no fence between the property and the park boundary.
