Babel at Babylonstoren
You eat at Babel in a converted cowshed on the Babylonstoren estate, where the kitchen works directly with what the gardens provide that day. The menu follows a pick-clean-serve approach, changing with the seasons — expect unconventional combinations of vegetables, herbs and proteins, all grown or raised on the farm. The dining room keeps the cowshed's original structure but adds glass walls to bring the garden into view.
The restaurant is part of Babylonstoren, a working farm with orchards, vineyards and extensive gardens. What you eat depends on what is ready to harvest, so dishes shift with the year. The kitchen prepares platters for sharing, with bread baked in the farm's wood-fired oven and salads built around just-picked leaves and flowers.
Reservations are required for lunch and dinner. The cowshed's thick walls and high ceilings keep the space cool in summer, with the garden visible through the glass.
