The park runs inland from there, taking in five lakes and the Serpentine — a winding waterway that connects Island Lake to the Touw River at the Ebb-and-Flow Rest Camp. The rest camp has log cabins on stilts and riverside camping spots under milkwood trees.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFrom the camp you can hire a canoe to paddle the Serpentine, or walk the forest trails to bird hides at Langvlei and Rondevlei. The hides look out over water where pied kingfishers dive and grey herons stalk the shallows. Island Lake allows water-skiing; Swartvlei and the Touw River are for fishing and rowing. In season, whales pass Dolphin Point near the mouth.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe N2 highway runs past the park entrance, two kilometres from Wilderness village. There are no shops or ATMs in the park, but the town has restaurants, doctors, and a pharmacy.
