The garden holds ten hectares of cultivated fynbos — proteas, ericas, restios — and one hundred and ninety hectares of natural reserve, all part of the Kogelberg Biosphere. The land runs from mountain ridges down through gorges to the shoreline, so the trails take you from forests to dunes.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cultivated area displays fynbos species grouped by family, with paths winding between them. The natural reserve holds longer trails: the Zigzag climbs Bobbejaanskop, the Fynbos Trail crosses open slopes, and Leopard’s Kloof Trail follows a stream through forest to a waterfall. From late December to January, the red disa orchid flowers on cliffs above the water in Disa Kloof.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA restaurant overlooks the garden from near the entrance, with tables beside a pond. The building uses local sandstone, like the original entrance structure built from stones salvaged after a fire. Wheelchairs are available for use on the main paths, which are surfaced for easy access.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe garden is open every day.
