Hazendal Wine Estate
Hazendal is a wine estate in Stellenbosch with vineyards, gardens and a hotel. The land has grown grapes since 1699; today you taste wine in a cellar or on the lawn, walk through gardens designed by Leon Kluge, and sleep in one of thirty-nine rooms or a five-bedroom villa.
The kitchen uses organic ingredients from the estate's harvest garden. You can eat at Marks for tapas, the Golf Bar for lunch, or book a picnic under the trees. The spa offers massages and facials; the golf course has a driving range and a putting park. Families use the padel courts and Wonderdal, an activity center for children.
Art tours show the estate's collection and temporary exhibitions in the Marvol Gallery. The original homestead holds classic cars; the wine library pairs vintages with small plates. The hotel stands near the vineyards, with views of the Bottelary Hills.
The estate is a twenty-minute drive from central Stellenbosch, on the road that connects the town to the vineyards.
