The Sea Gypsy Cafe
You eat seafood at The Sea Gypsy Cafe on Mossel Bay harbour, where the tables look out over the water. The kitchen serves hake, calamari, mussels and prawns — the Family Platter has two soles, four hake fillets, two hundred and fifty grams of calamari, eight prawns and eight mussels. Breakfast stops at midday; the Pirates Breakfast comes with two eggs, two rashers of bacon, steak, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and toast.
The menu covers seafood platters, steaks, pastas and burgers. The Ocean Basket holds hake pieces, deep-fried calamari, three crumbed mushrooms and chips. For dessert there is malva pudding with cream or ice cream.
The restaurant stands on Quay 4 at the harbour, where fishing boats unload their catch. You can see the water from most tables, and the kitchen works with the day's supply from the docks.
