Wildebraam Berry Estate

Wildebraam is a working berry farm in the Hermitage Valley near Swellendam, growing youngberries and blackberries. From mid-November to December, you can pick your own fruit in the orchards. The rest of the year, the farm shop sells preserves, liqueurs, and cheeses from local producers.

The tasting room offers samples of fruit liqueurs made on site. The farm shop stocks jams that have won awards at the South African Preserve Championships, including a double gold for their Maketaan Preserve and Sweet Pepper Jam in 2025. A cheese shop two kilometers away sells local dairy products to pair with Wildebraam's preserves.

Four self-catering cottages sit on the property, with views of the Langeberg Mountains. The units have kitchens and braai areas; owls and frogs call at night. The farm is two kilometers from Swellendam's oak-lined streets and historic buildings.

In season, the Berry Café serves coffee and light meals beside the orchards. The rest of the year, the farm shop remains open for preserves and liqueurs made from the estate's fruit.
