Mukuvisi Woodlands

Mukuvisi Woodlands is a nature reserve in Harare where you can walk marked trails through miombo woodland, cycle on designated routes, or watch wildlife from a viewing platform. The reserve has resident animals including zebra, giraffe, impala, and eland, which are fed near the platform on weekends at two in the afternoon. Trails range from three to ten kilometers, passing a bird hide and small dam.

You can bring dogs on leads, though they must stay leashed in the game area. The coffee shop serves breakfast from seven in the morning, and there are braai facilities for picnics. The reserve also runs guided horseback safaris, booked in advance, and hosts a monthly market on the first Sunday.

Over four thousand school children visit each year for environmental education programs, which include bush camps and hands-on projects. The woodlands were first proposed as a protected area in 1910 and have been leased from the city since 1980. They remain one of the few large green spaces in Harare.
