Crab Shack Dabaso is a wooden restaurant built on a two-hundred-metre boardwalk through the mangroves of Mida Creek. The Dabaso Creek Conservation Group runs it to fund conservation and education in the area. You eat crab samosas and fresh fish caught by local fishermen, with Kirepwe Island in view across the water.

The kitchen works with what the creek provides: crab from sustainable farming, prawns, and line fish. The bar serves beers, wines and cocktails to drink as the sun sets over the water. Birdwatchers come for the waders and kingfishers that work the channels at low tide.

A meal here supports the conservation group directly — all profits go back into mangrove protection and village education. The boardwalk itself is part of the project, built to let visitors walk through the mangroves without damaging them. You can take a guided tour of the boardwalk before or after eating.

The restaurant is a short drive from Watamu, set back from the village of Dabaso where the conservation group is based. It is built lightly on the creek edge, with the mangrove forest behind it and the water in front.
