Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge is set on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills in Tsavo West National Park, overlooking a waterhole where elephants, giraffes and other wildlife gather. Built from local volcanic stone, the lodge blends into its surroundings, with 56 rooms spread across three wings — a two-storey block facing the waterhole, a cluster of stone cottages, and a private suite enclave. Each room opens onto a private balcony with views of the waterhole or the hills, and interiors use natural materials and local touches to reflect the landscape.

Morning and evening game drives take you into Tsavo West, where lions, leopards and elephants roam. Back at the lodge, the waterhole draws wildlife throughout the day, and the bar and dining room overlook it from a stone terrace. Breakfasts are served here or on Lion Rock, a volcanic outcrop with panoramic views of the park. Evenings end with sundowners on the terrace or at Lion Rock, watching the sky fade over the plains.

The lodge has been a base for exploring Tsavo West since the 1960s, and its waterhole remains the reason guests stay here.
