Brandberg White Lady Lodge, Uis Namibia

You stay at Brandberg White Lady Lodge along the Ugab River, with Brandberg Mountain in view. The lodge has treehouses raised on stilts, tents along the riverbed, and chalets built from local materials. Each unit has a private deck and bathroom; some have outdoor showers. The treehouses sleep two, with a queen bed and a fireplace below.

Guides take you out along the river to track desert-adapted elephants, which move through the area without fences. The lodge also runs trips to see San rock art on Brandberg Mountain, including the White Lady painting that gives the place its name. Back at camp, there is a swimming pool and a driving range where you can hit golf balls into the desert.

The kitchen serves meals with ingredients from the lodge’s garden. The bar looks out over the riverbed, where elephants sometimes pass at dusk. The lodge runs on solar power and collects rainwater, with no grid electricity.

Uis, the nearest town, is forty minutes away by road. The lodge arranges transfers if you do not have a car.
