You take a forty-five-minute boat trip from Hout Bay harbour to Seal Island, where Cape fur seals dive and play in the water. The vessel has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the crew shares information about the seals as you go. Several departures run daily, weather permitting.

The island is home to a colony of seals that swim around the boat, sometimes coming close enough to see clearly. If you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins or whales between June and November. The trip gives you views of Chapman’s Peak from the water as you leave the harbour.

Private charters are available for groups, with space for up to ninety-five guests. These longer cruises time the return to coincide with sunset over the bay. The boat leaves from the working harbour in Hout Bay, where fishing boats still operate.
