Carnivore Restaurant, Muldersdrift South Africa

The Carnivore Restaurant in Muldersdrift serves an all-you-can-eat feast of game and domestic meats, skewered on Masaai swords and charcoal-grilled. The meal begins with homemade soup and honey bread, followed by a Lazy Susan bearing six salads and sauces. Waiters circulate with skewers of beef, chicken, pork, ostrich, kudu and crocodile, carving the meat directly onto your hot cast-iron plate. Traditional pap, Sheba sauce and a baked potato accompany the meal. When you have had your fill, you lower the flag on your Lazy Susan to signal surrender. Desserts and coffee round off the meal.

The restaurant sits in the grounds of the Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre and Spa, and can seat up to five hundred diners. It has been serving its unique dining concept for over thirty years, drawing locals and tourists alike. Vegetarian and fish dishes are also available, though the focus remains on the meats. The Carnivore is a franchise of the original restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya, and has won awards for Best Traditional Restaurant and Best Restaurant to Take Tourists To.
