You eat at Caversham Mill in a converted flour mill that has stood beside the Lions River since the 1850s. The Hodson brothers built it to grind wheat and maize for local settlers, using yellowwood and sneezewood cut from the surrounding bush. Those same beams still frame the dining room today.

The restaurant sits near the historic Caversham Bridge, constructed in 1898. Current owners Neresh and Alveera Barmanandh have kept the mill's structure intact while updating the kitchen, which sources from nearby farms in the Midlands region. Dishes range from casual lunches to evening meals, served in rooms where the mill's original purpose shows in the heavy timberwork.

A six-sleeper cottage stands nearby for overnight guests, with the Caversham Waterfall within walking distance. The property claims to be the birthplace of the Midlands Meander, the craft route established in 1984 that now brings visitors past its door.

The river that once powered the mill still runs beside it, audible from the tables closest to the water.
