Monomotapa Village

Monomotapa Village sits within Legend Golf and Safari Resort in the Waterberg region of Limpopo, a malaria-free area known for its wildlife and landscapes. The resort combines golf and safari experiences, with an 18-hole championship golf course designed by professional golfers. Game drives take place in the surrounding reserve, where you can spot lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino.

The village is named after the ancient Monomotapa kingdom, reflected in the architectural style of the Great Enclosure gates. Accommodation options are set into the bushveld, offering views of the Waterberg Mountains. The resort also features a spa, restaurant, and pool, with activities like guided bush walks and birdwatching.

The golf course includes the Extreme 19th, a par-three hole accessible by helicopter, set on Hanglip Mountain. The tee overlooks the green some four hundred metres below, making it a unique challenge for golfers. The resort is about two and a half hours by road from Johannesburg or a short flight away.

Game drives are led by rangers who share insights into the reserve’s ecosystems, from grasslands to riverbeds. The reserve is home to over fifty mammal species and hundreds of bird species, making it a destination for both golfers and wildlife enthusiasts.
