You eat seafood at Bertha's on Simon's Town harbour, with views of False Bay and the naval base. The restaurant opened in 1993 in the old post office building, named after a ship's figurehead. The kitchen serves oysters, prawns, and seafood platters — the Neptune's Platter for two has ten prawns, mussels, calamari, and the catch of the day.

The dining room has a nautical feel, with photographs from the local historical society on the walls. You can reach the restaurant by train to Simon's Town station, then walk ten minutes along the historic mile past the yacht club. The menu includes line fish, deep-fried calamari, and a seafood curry with mussels, hake, and prawns.

The harbour is the reason the restaurant is here at all — the building went up where a fishing shed once stood, and the kitchen followed the boats.
