Cattle Baron Constantia
You eat at Cattle Baron Constantia for its flambéed Chateaubriand, carved and flamed tableside with brandy, and its aged beef steaks grilled to order. The kitchen serves ribs, seafood, and burgers alongside the steaks, but the focus is on the meat — wet-aged grain-fed beef, cut and seasoned by the in-house chefs.
The dining room is in Constantia Village Shopping Centre, a short drive from the vineyards of Constantia Winelands, and the menu leans into the region’s produce. The Chateaubriand is the signature dish, but the ribs — basted in Cattle Baron’s sweet barbecue sauce — and the T-Bone steaks are also popular.
The kitchen runs through lunch and dinner, and the tableside flambé service makes it a place for celebrations as much as casual meals. The steaks are served with classic sauces — green peppercorn, béarnaise, chimichurri — and the wine list focuses on local vineyards.
The Constantia branch is one of several Cattle Baron steakhouses in the Western Cape, but it is the flagship, and the one most closely associated with the brand’s focus on steaks and ribs.
