La Motte is a wine estate in the Franschhoek Valley, with vineyards first planted in 1752. The estate includes four provincial monuments: the Manor House from 1758, the Jonkershuis from 1752, the Historic Cellar from 1782, and a working water mill from the late 18th century. You can taste their wines in the tasting room, which is open daily, and visit the on-site bakery for artisanal bread and pastries. The estate also has a hiking trail through the surrounding landscape, though it closes in winter.

The farm shop sells gifts inspired by the estate, including ceramics and fynbos-scented products. The Ateljee hosts workshops like botanical textile painting and watercolor classes. The L’Ami Family Brasserie serves open-fire cuisine with local flavors, though it closes for winter breaks.

La Motte has been owned by the Rupert family since 1970, and the estate includes a modern village for workers nearby. The vineyards are planted with noble varieties, and the cellar uses modern practices. The water mill, the only one of its kind in Franschhoek, still operates and can be seen during the Historic Walk on Wednesday mornings.
