You come to Lebanese Bakery in Claremont for pita bread baked in-house, mezze platters and salads dressed with tahina and za'atar. The kitchen makes its own falafel and kofta, and prepares frozen soups in sachets for reheating at home — spiced red lentil, coriander and butternut, chicken and mushroom. The menu changes with the season; in summer there are salads like fattoush with crispy pita chips, and grilled zucchini with mint and feta.

The bakery caters for events, with platters of mini manakish and fatayer — small pastries filled with cheese, spinach or spiced beef. Whole roasted chickens come marinated in za'atar and yoghurt or harissa. Mezze options include hummus, baba ganoush and labneh, sold in tubs for takeaway.

The Claremont branch is on Imam Haron Road, with a second location in Cape Town city centre. Both bake pita daily, using brown and white flour. The kitchen closes forty-five minutes before the cafe, so plan accordingly.
