You stay at the Whale Coast Hotel in a duplex apartment — bedrooms upstairs, kitchen and lounge downstairs — five minutes' walk from Hermanus Old Harbour. The building is attached to the Hermanus Station shopping centre, which has a Checkers supermarket, and Woolworths is across the road.

The twenty-three apartments come in one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, all with kitchens, lounges and balconies. Some have partial sea views. The kitchens have granite worktops; the three-bedroom apartments have built-in braais, while gas braais can be provided for the smaller units. Each apartment has a smart TV and free WiFi.

The hotel offers breakfast, and staff clean daily. Undercover parking is free. From June to November, southern right whales pass close to shore — the Old Harbour is a viewing spot, and boat trips run from there.
