Yul's Restaurant
You eat at Yul's beside the Indian Ocean, where the terrace looks out over the water. The kitchen grills seafood — kingfish, red snapper, lobster — with garlic butter, salt and lemon, and serves it with the ocean in view. Meat cooks at your table on 400°C hot stones, and an Italian wood-fired oven turns out pizzas. The menu also includes pasta made to order, Indian curries, and coffee imported from Italy and Austria.
The restaurant opened in 1989 next to Bamburi Beach Hotel, and the oceanfront spot has drawn diners since. Families fill the tables at midday; the terrace takes couples at night, especially when the moon is full. The bar pours tropical cocktails, and the bakery makes cakes to have with coffee after the meal.
Yul's shares its site with a water sports center that started a year before the restaurant, in 1988. The two businesses share the oceanfront location, though the restaurant stands on its own.
