Hero Restaurant
You enter Hero Restaurant through a discreet entrance on the ninth floor of Trademark Hotel in Nairobi, designed like a prohibition-era speakeasy. The kitchen serves small plates that draw from comic book heroes — ramen with twelve-hour pork broth, sushi rolls with tempura prawns, and yakitori skewers with teriyaki glaze. The bar mixes drinks with ingredients like berbere-infused vodka and coconut butter-washed whisky.
The dining room overlooks the city from its high perch, with the kitchen working through a menu that includes cold dishes like salmon tiradito with yuzu ponzu and hot plates such as kimchi ramen with seafood. Vegetarian options run from sweet potato tempura rolls to miso-glazed tofu steamed buns. Desserts include coconut-lime sorbet and banana ice cream with caramel.
The bar was ranked on The World's 50 Best Bars extension list in 2024. It serves cocktails until late, with the kitchen closing at midnight most nights.
