Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge: Kenya Safari Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park, Nakuru Kenya

You stay at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge inside Lake Nakuru National Park, on a slope called Lion Hill with views across the water. The park is known for its flamingos that gather along the lake edge, and for both black and white rhinos that move through the bush. The lodge has sixty-two chalet-style rooms built to follow the hill’s shape, each with a terrace facing the lake.

Game drives go out daily in open vehicles, tracking rhino, lion, buffalo and the park’s tree-climbing lions. The lake draws over four hundred bird species, including pelicans and flamingos that turn the shoreline pink when they mass in numbers. Baboon Cliff, one of the park’s high points, gives views over the water and is a place to watch sunset.

The Flamingo Restaurant serves meals made with vegetables from the lodge’s own garden, with tables set beside the pool. Evenings bring traditional dance performances at the Rift Valley Bar, where the terrace looks west over the lake. The heated pool sits on a plateau among trees, with the park visible beyond.

Lake Nakuru National Park is two and a half hours by road from Nairobi, reached through Lanet or Nderit gates. The lodge sits inside the park boundaries, so game drives start at the door.
