Aberdare Country Club

You stay at Aberdare Country Club on the slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands, two and a half hours from Nairobi. The thirty-seven rooms and cottages have tea and coffee facilities, bathrooms, and ceiling fans. The main building holds a restaurant and bar with views over the hills.

Horseback riding is the main activity here, with trails through the highland forests. Safari drives go out into the surrounding landscape, and the swimming pool looks over the same hills. The property has a small gym and spa for massages after riding or walking.

The club is set up for families and groups, with meeting spaces and event facilities. The highland air is cool even at midday, and the trees around the cottages keep them shaded. You can walk the grounds or sit on the terrace with a drink from the bar.

The nearest town is Nyeri, a short drive down the hill for supplies or a change of scene.
