Damara Mopane Lodge, Gondwana Collection Namibia

You stay at Damara Mopane Lodge in Khorixas, where sixty chalets are set among mopane woodland. Each chalet has its own vegetable garden, enclosed by a low wall. The rooms are spacious, with twin beds and en suite bathrooms. Air conditioning and tea and coffee facilities are standard.

The lodge offers guided birding walks, where you can spot resident and migratory species in the surrounding area. Self-guided hiking trails wind through the property, taking between one and three hours to complete. In the evenings, you can walk up to a viewing platform to watch the sunset over the mopane trees.

A bar and restaurant serve meals, and there is an outdoor pool for cooling off during the day. The lodge is twenty kilometres east of Khorixas on the C39 road. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available.
