Asoka Restaurant, Bar and Lounge
You come to Asoka for dinner that turns into a night out. The restaurant and bar occupy a converted early 20th-century house on Kloof Street, with a deck looking toward Table Mountain. The kitchen serves shared tasting plates organized around five elements: vegetarian (earth), seafood (water), poultry (wind), meat (fire), and dessert (nirvana). Chefs work with sharp flavors and spices, drawing from international cuisines.
The bar mixes cocktails with fresh ingredients, and the music shifts as the evening progresses — house beats take over later in the night. The kitchen stays open until midnight, so you can eat after dancing. Inside, candlelight and the original house structure give the space a layered feel, with the deck outside for warmer nights.
Asoka has been on Kloof Street for over a decade, built around an olive tree in the courtyard. The restaurant shares ownership with Kloof Street House and Egghead Diner nearby.
