Victoria & Alfred Hotel

The Victoria & Alfred Hotel has stood on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront since 1904, when it opened as the North Quay Warehouse. Today it is a harbour hotel with ninety-four rooms facing the Alfred Basin, Table Mountain or the piazza. The building’s history is in its materials — brick, steel and timber — and its position on the waterfront lets you watch ships come and go from the room.

The rooms are split into categories: Loft Rooms, Mountain Facing Rooms, Piazza Facing Rooms and Luxury Rooms. Each has a swivel television, minibar, and coffee-making facilities; some have lounge areas. The Piazza Facing Rooms look out over the square where musicians and performers gather, while the Mountain Facing Rooms frame Table Mountain across the basin.

The hotel shares facilities with its sister property, The Dock House, including a swimming pool, spa and gym. Breakfast is served daily, and the hotel’s Sunday brunch draws locals as well as guests. The V&A Waterfront is walkable from the door, with restaurants, shops and the harbour road all within reach.
