Buccaneers Beach Lodge, Chintsa, South Africa
A beach lodge in Chintsa with a pool, bar, and surf access
You stay at Buccaneers Beach Lodge on the Wild Coast, a short walk from Chintsa Beach. The lodge has a pool with a bar, and the beach stretches for eighteen kilometers with rock pools and a tidal pool. Surf lessons are available, and if the waves at Chintsa are not right, the staff can direct you to nearby breaks like Nahoon or Queensberry Bay.
Horse rides start from the lodge, taking you through bush and onto the beach. The horses suit different riding levels, and helmets are provided. You can also take a canoe out on the Chintsa Lagoon, or borrow a boogie board for the waves.
The lodge sits in eight hectares of indigenous forest. Accommodation ranges from en-suite rooms to family cottages and a campsite. Meals are served in the dining room with views of the bay, and the bar looks out over the water.
Twice a week there is yoga in a pagoda in the forest. The lodge can arrange quad biking or zip-lining at a nearby adventure spot, and the reception will book these for you.
The beach is the reason the lodge is here. You walk down to it through the forest, and the sand stretches far enough that you can always find a quiet spot.
