Kowie River Chalets

You stay in self-catering chalets along the Kowie River in Port Alfred, with wooden boardwalks connecting the units to the beach. Each chalet has a private deck and an open-plan living area, and the river meets the Indian Ocean just beyond the sand. The water is close enough that you can hear it from the chalet.

The resort has a swimming pool and a separate kiddies pool, a sauna, and a playground. A braai area lets you cook outside; the kitchen in each chalet is equipped for meals indoors. Staff service the units daily.

Port Alfred is a hundred and fifty kilometres from Port Elizabeth. The town has shops and restaurants if you want to leave the resort, but the beach is right outside the gate. The boardwalks lead you there without crossing a road.

The chalets face the ocean, so you wake to the light off the water. The decks are built for sitting out in the evening when the air cools.
