Die Stoep Restaurant, Bronkhorstspruit South Africa

Die Stoep is a restaurant in Bronkhorstspruit set in a house built in 1931, with original Oregon floors and pressed steel ceilings still intact. What began as a small coffee shop expanded into a full restaurant and pub, with a lapa added later to seat eighty people for functions. The attic, known as the ghost room, adds to the building’s character.

The menu includes Boere kos and a la carte dishes, served alongside platters and takeaways. On the first Sunday of each month, the kitchen prepares a special Boere kos menu. The lapa hosts events like birthdays, year-end functions, and family gatherings, making it a meeting point between Pretoria and Witbank.

The building’s history includes being the first in Bronkhorstspruit to have a flush toilet, installed by Dr. Roos, who later became a regular guest. Today, the restaurant preserves the original floors and ceilings, with the ghost room remaining part of its lore.
