You stop at Peregrine Farm Stall for pies and fresh produce on the N2 near Grabouw, a break in the drive since 1964. The current building went up in 1981, built from Knysna timber, with a bakery and cafe added later. Thirty bakers work daily on bread and pastries using local ingredients, and the kitchen makes pies that have been a staple since the late 1990s.

The farm stall began as an apple stand in the early 1960s, and the Truter family still runs it. The Red Tractor Café opened in 1998, burned down in 2014, and was replaced by the current Peregrine Café in 2015. The bakery launched in 2018, adding bread and pastries to the shelves of jams and pantry goods that have lined the farm stall since the 1980s.

The cafe serves breakfast and lunch, with sandwiches and coffee for travelers and locals. The building is the reason you stop — the timber frame holds the bakery smells in, and the pies are the reason you stay. The N2 runs past the door, as it has for sixty years.
