Gwahumbe Game & Spa

Gwahumbe is a private game reserve and spa in KwaZulu-Natal, about an hour from Durban. You stay in one of thirteen rooms or self-catering units, some with private pools or verandas overlooking the valley. The reserve has rhino, giraffe, zebra, and various antelope, which you can see on twice-daily game drives in open 4x4 vehicles.

The spa offers treatments using Healing Earth products, made with natural African minerals. There are massage rooms, a hydro-bath, and a steam room. You can book individual treatments or packages that include meals and accommodation. The spa is set in a private garden, with meals served there for guests.

The reserve has marked trails for mountain biking and running, and three fishing spots where you can catch and release tilapia and bass. There is also a labyrinth for walking, a swimming pool, and a children's play area with a trampoline and jungle gym.

Meals are served at The Boma Restaurant, which offers a continental breakfast buffet, light lunch specials, and a three-course dinner. Day visitors can book meals in advance. The kitchen uses ingredients from the property's organic garden where possible.
