Kebabish Overport
Kebabish Overport is a family-run Indian-Pakistani restaurant that has been serving Durban since 2003. You eat flame-grilled platters, curries, biryanis and bunny chow from a menu that runs to twenty sections, all halaal certified. The kitchen works with charcoal, and the scent of grilling meat reaches the outdoor seating area where you can watch the cooks at work.
The Overport branch was the first of three Kebabish locations in Durban, and it stays open late for tea and snacks after the main meal. The menu covers both Indian and Pakistani dishes, with vegetarian options like paneer tikka and chana masala alongside meat curries and tandoori breads. Daily specials include butter chicken with naan on Thursdays and chicken biryani on Fridays.
What makes the place work is its position in the neighborhood — it has been a community staple for twenty years, with regulars who come for the late-night service as much as for the food. The outdoor seating lets you eat under the trees on Felix Dlamini Road, watching the kitchen through the open windows.
