Botlierskop Tented Lodge

You stay at Botlierskop Tented Lodge on a private game reserve near Little Brak River, where upscale tented suites overlook the Moordkuil River. The lodge is set among rock formations that once served as lookout points for ships along the coast. Each tented suite has an en-suite bathroom, a private deck, and views of the surrounding plains and mountains.

Game drives take you through the reserve to spot wildlife like rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and cheetahs. Horseback safaris are also available, with rides tailored for both experienced and inexperienced riders. The lodge supports conservation efforts, including veterinary safaris where you can observe wildlife care procedures.

The Fijnebos Spa offers treatments with African-inspired oils, and the Fireplace Restaurant serves meals with ingredients from the lodge’s vegetable garden. The reserve removes invasive plant species and uses solar energy to reduce its environmental impact.

The lodge was established by Dr. Dirk Neethling, a wildlife veterinarian, and remains family-run. It has weathered floods and fires over the years, rebuilding each time to continue offering stays in this part of the Western Cape.
