Margate Sands
A family self-catering resort across from Margate Main Beach
Margate Sands sits across the road from Margate Main Beach, a stretch of sand on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Families stay in 63 air-conditioned apartments spread across a nine-floor building, each with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen stocked with appliances. The resort pools overlook the Indian Ocean, and adventure golf provides a distraction for children when they’re not swimming or playing on the trampoline. The Fred First Kids Club organises activities like colouring and storytelling, giving parents time to relax at the wellness spa or braai in the landscaped outdoor areas.
The apartments sleep up to six people, with a queen bed in the main room and twin beds in the other two bedrooms. A sleeper couch in the lounge accommodates two children under twelve. Kitchens include a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, and fridge-freezer. Each apartment has a balcony or patio with views of the ocean, and parking is provided.
Margate Main Beach is a short walk away, and the resort’s pools, adventure golf course, and kids club keep families occupied when they’re not on the sand. The resort is a ninety-minute drive from Durban and thirty minutes from the Wild Coast.
