Caribbean Estates

Caribbean Estates is a private coastal estate in Port Edward, bordered by the Indian Ocean and the Umtamvuna River. You stay in self-catering villas with three to six bedrooms, each equipped for families or groups. The estate has direct access to an unprotected beach — no lifeguards or shark nets — and scenic walkways lead through conservation areas to the river mouth.

Facilities include tennis courts with evening lighting, a games room with table tennis and pool, and a convenience store with a coffee counter. The estate’s conservation area is home to small buck species, Samango monkeys, and diverse birdlife. You can walk to the beach or the river, where the water is warm but sometimes rough.

The villas have private pools and braai facilities, and some are set along waterways where you can watch birds from the patio. The estate is quiet and secure, with staff on hand for assistance. It is a place for coastal walks, tennis matches, and evenings by the braai, with the sound of the ocean nearby.
