The Royal Hotel
The oldest hotel in the Western Cape, with three restaurants and a pool
You stay at The Royal Hotel, the oldest in the Western Cape, on Main Street in Riebeek-Kasteel. The hotel has three restaurants: a brasserie serving French comfort food, an Indonesian rijsttafel experience, and the Royal Restaurant with West Coast seafood and local beef. The 150-year-old bar serves local and international gins, with a fireplace and veranda seating.
The rooms have mountain views, underfloor heating in the bathrooms, and Nespresso machines. The King Suites include private stoeps and double air conditioning. The wellness center offers massages and pedicures, and the pool area looks out over the Kasteelberg.
The hotel is central to the Winelands, with Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek within an hour's drive. High tea is served on Saturdays with finger sandwiches and French pastries, and a seven-course breakfast tasting menu is available for guests staying two nights or more.
The building has been a hotel since the 19th century, and the bar has been serving drinks for 150 years.
