Devon Valley Hotel - Stellenbosch
A vineyard hotel in Devon Valley with views of the Helderberg Mountains
You stay at the Devon Valley Hotel among vineyards and olive groves, with views of the Helderberg Mountains. The original timber-framed building dates to 1947; fifty rooms were added in 2008, some with private decks. The restaurant serves contemporary Cape cuisine, and the terrace looks over the vines.
The hotel sits in a quiet corner of the Stellenbosch winelands. Rooms have wooden floors and large windows framing the valley. The restaurant, Flavours, uses produce from the region, and the kitchen has been expanded to handle the demand.
A twenty-kilometer mountain bike trail runs through the valley, starting near the hotel. The route passes vineyards and back roads, with stops for coffee or lunch along the way. The hotel also supports local initiatives, including a pre-school and an animal welfare organization.
The building was originally called the Cedarwood Hotel. It was renamed in the 1960s and renovated in 2003 and 2008.
