Twee Rivieren Rest Camp @ Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Upington South Africa

Twee Rivieren is the main rest camp in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, sitting where the dry beds of the Nossob and Auob rivers meet. It is the park's administrative headquarters and the only camp with 24-hour electricity and cell phone reception. You can refuel, shop for supplies, and eat at the restaurant here before heading deeper into the park.

The camp has an interpretation center that explains the park's history and the ‡Khomani Cultural Landscape. A hide on the northern dune lets you watch wildlife without leaving camp. Occasionally, ‡Khomani traders sell crafts under the Market Tree.

Twee Rivieren is five kilometers from the border where the two rivers converge. It serves as a base for exploring the park's red dunes and thornveld savannah, with roads leading to wilderness camps like Bitterpan and Grootkolk. The swimming pool offers relief from the Kalahari heat.

This is where you check in for some of the park's wilderness camps, though Nossob handles check-ins for others. The roads from Twee Rivieren to camps like Mata-Mata take about two and a half hours by car.
