Butterfly Blu sits on the dunes at Brenton-on-Sea, a short drive from Knysna, with the beach directly below its decks. The kitchen focuses on seafood and South African dishes, using local ingredients that change with the season. You can eat inside at tables with sea views or outside on the deck where the salt air reaches the table.

The restaurant is part of the Wild Route group, which runs several places along the Garden Route. Here the menu includes fish, prawns, and South African dishes, with a wine list drawn from local vineyards. The beach below is accessible from the restaurant, so some guests walk there before or after eating.

The building stands high enough on the dune to see along the coast in both directions. At sunset the light reaches the tables on the western side, where the deck faces the water.
