You eat at Dixies for the view as much as the food — the terrace looks out over False Bay, with Simon’s Town visible along the coast. The kitchen serves seafood and grills, with wood-fired pizzas at midday. The wine list leans South African, with Chenin Blanc a recurring choice.

The building is set back from the water but angled to take in the sweep of the bay. Inside seats one hundred and twenty; outside holds one hundred and thirty on the terrace, where you can watch the light change on the water as the meal goes by.

The menu runs from breakfast through dinner. At breakfast there are eggs, bacon and flapjacks; later in the day the kitchen turns to seafood, steaks and the pizzas that come out of the wood-fired oven. The wine list avoids imports, sticking to South African producers — many from within sight of the bay itself.
