You eat at The Company's Garden Restaurant in the middle of Cape Town's oldest public garden, a green space that has fed the city for centuries. The restaurant serves light meals and traditional South African dishes from morning until late afternoon, with the kitchen closing at five. Families fill the tables at midday; the space is designed for children, with room to move between courses.

The menu includes teatime favourites and heartier local dishes. Large groups can book the function space for up to forty people, with set menus available. If the weather allows, you may be seated outside among the garden's trees and flowerbeds.

The garden itself is the reason the restaurant is here. It was planted to supply fresh produce to passing ships, and now supplies lunch to passing families.
