The Grille Shack is a roadside restaurant on Clarence Drive, five kilometres from Gordon’s Bay. You come here for hearty meals — breakfasts with eggs, bacon, and house-made sourdough, or later for burgers, seafood, and grilled dishes. The kitchen works with free-range eggs and longline hake, and plates come with shoestring chips or steakhouse fries.

The menu includes a classic cheeseburger on a house-made bun, battered fish with tartare sauce, and a double cheese and bacon burger. There are also salads, like a beetroot and citrus mix with toasted walnuts, and a classic Caesar with cos lettuce and parmesan. For dessert, there’s baked cheesecake with blueberry compote or buttermilk waffles with salted caramel.

The restaurant is set back from the road, with space for families and groups. The kitchen serves through the day, from breakfast to dinner, and the tables fill with locals and travellers stopping on the drive along the coast.
