Vintage India, Cape Town South Africa

Vintage India opened in Cape Town in 2000, bringing tandoor, tawa and wok cooking to the city. The kitchen blends North Indian, Goan and Hydrabadi cuisines, with spices sourced directly from India and fresh ingredients from local markets.

The menu includes kebabs from the tandoor oven, Indo-Chinese dishes, and a range of vegan, vegetarian and Jain options. The wine list is designed to pair with the food, and the dining room is set in a quiet corner of Gardens.

The restaurant was founded by Sudhir Vichare, who introduced authentic Indian flavours to South Africa while preserving the heritage of royal Indian hospitality. Vintage India remains a trusted establishment for classic and contemporary Indian dishes, served in a plush dining hall with attentive service.

The kitchen uses age-old methods like tandoor, tawa, kadai and wok to prepare its dishes, believing that the right mix of spices heals both soul and body. The eclectic Indo-Chinese dishes reflect the ever-evolving face of Indian cuisine.
